About

Again following his own path, Mathias Bressan continues his honest and endearing journey. He is back with "Ballades pour mon chien noir", a hybrid object somewhere between a collection of poetry and an album of songs. The twelve tracks that are overtly fragile are sprinkled with post-rock, Belgitude and existentialism.

After "Entre Terre et Mer" (2013), Bressan released a second album "L'imprévu" (Igloo, 2017), acclaimed by critics in the French-speaking world and awarded a Coup de Coeur by the Académie Charles Cros.
He is back with "Ballades pour mon chien noir", the third opus. It refers to the name that Winston Churchill gave the states of depression that accompanied him all his life. These new songs pay tribute to the new best enemy of modern humans, caught between infobesity, neoliberal fury, environmental disaster and wait-and-see.
The eleven-track digital release brings together songs in the classical format and more experimental tracks, with a hint of Belgitude, post-rock and neofolk. Like the old French-speaking chanson, Mathias' new songs draw on eclectic musical universes to underline deep lyrics tuned to the state of the world.
A hybrid object made between two worlds, "Ballades pour mon chien noir" offers the lyrics of the album's eleven tracks (downloadable in high audio quality) and "orphan" texts - fragments of unidentified texts that had sometimes remained for a long time in the belly of a hard drive, without ever having been set to music.
With this very personal third album, Mathias Bressan invites us to take the time to listen introspectively and to pay attention to ourselves. "Ballads for My Black Dog" cultivates fragility and imperfection in the general tumult.
